“Free from” food also for Christmas!
According to the latest market researches, Italians consume more “free from” food, such as gluten free, lactose free, salt or sugar free products. A trend that is also pursued for Christmas, looking for Panettones that are gluten free or vegan, with no eggs, butter, milk or any other animal product.
Less is more. Moreover, less is better and the Italians like it more. Statistics and surveys tell us, in fact, that “free from” foods are more frequent on our tables. According to Coldiretti, for example, in the latest year the gluten free products purchases increased by 50%, the organic, chemical free products purchases increased by 20% and the lactose free, salt or sugar free products consumption is also increasing.
Natural ingredients. According to the Nielsen’s Global Health and Ingredient Sentiment survey, that compared the food habits of 60 different countries, 67% of the Italians says to be worried about the long term impact that “artificial” food can have on their health, 53% is willing to spend more on food and beverages with no undesired ingredients, but only the 37% of them is willing to sacrifice the taste and opt for a healthier product.
Vegan style. The percentage of Italians that don’t eat meat is also increasing, 7,1% of them is vegetarian, 1% of them is vegan. Those food trends could be explained by the higher attention to health, body shape and physical health, but also by the higher diffusion of food intolerances. A trend that is growing really fast despite the higher price, since – as Coldiretti says – 70% of the Italians is willing to spend more for a completely natural product, 65% for a product that is GMO free, 62% for an organic product and 60% for a product with no food colorings, as the latest Coop’s report says.
Under the Christmas tree. The “free from” tendency also characterizes the choices for Christmas products. So, Probios came up with a brand new recipe that completely taste like the traditional Panettone, but is gluten free certified and palm oil free.
Also those who choose a vegan lifestyle don’t have to give up the tradition of Panettone and can opt for the GoVegan line: products with an absolutely surprising taste, that are perfectly comparable with the traditional ones. This is possible thanks to a recipe based on wheat or spelt flour, sweetened with agave syrup. GoVegan Panettones are made with natural rising agents and are palm oil free; like all of the products from this line, those product are certified by Vegan Society, the authority that, back in 1944, was the first one to use the word “vegan”. You can choose from 3 different versions: with spelt flour, with wheat flour or the latest entry, wheat flour with chocolate filling.
For those of you who love the classic Panettone but are looking for an organic product, you can choose between the Panettone and the Pandoro, both made with organic wheat flour and rose with natural agents. For those of you who want to try something different, you can try the Organic Panettone filled with sparkling wine custard, a perfect idea also as a gift.
