Vegetarian Week: 7 days dedicated to vegetarian food

In the distant 1977 the North American Vegetarian Society - the oldest vegetarian organization in the world - set for today, October 1st, the World Vegetarian Day, as well as the world day dedicated to vegetarian food and the importance of fruit and vegetables in our diet. A day that, not surprisingly, falls just at the beginning of the International Vegetarian Week during which various recurrences related to the choice of this food style are celebrated.

One more opportunity to promote the importance of ethics, environment and health, principles to which Probios has always inspired and which coincide with the needs of a consumer who is increasingly attentive to the world of sustainability and food safety. In fact, preferring the consumption of plant foods to animal ones means contributing to the reduction of emissions and less contamination of water and land.

Moreover, following a vegetarian diet means offering a series of benefits to our body too: it’s well known that fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals and fibers, but also the main macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins and good fats.

During this week, especially in America, it’s customary to share this food style with friends and relatives so that for a certain period of time everyone can absorb greater awareness of this topic. Do you want to try it too? Below here you are an example of a typical day that you could propose to those close to you.

  • BREAKFAST: a bowl of vegetable drink with cereal topping, puffed rice and some almonds

  • LUNCH: pasta or rice dressed with seasonal vegetables and a sprinkling of cheese

  • DINNER: legume soup with tempeh and croutons

  • SNACKS: fresh fruit and yogurt

Is it inspiring? Sit at the table and let us know how it was it!
