Flax Seed Oil: The Expert Answers!

I bought the flax seed oil of Il Nutrimento, and it has a particular bitter and woody taste, is it maybe altered? I know it is an oil with nutritional miraculous features for cholesterol.

The flax seed oil, is an oil rich in essential fatty acids, in particular its content in alpha linolenic acid (omega 3) is known for its values on the control of the values of cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure, but not only, it also contains vit. E which has an antioxidant action and seems to reinforce the immune system, in some diets it is also recommended for its anti-inflammatory action.
Being rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids very sensitive to air, exposure to light and heat, it is necessary to respect some storage conditions of the product most of all at the opening, when the product comes into contact with air.
On the label we specify to place it in the refrigerator once opened. However, before the opening, we do not think it is compulsory to keep it in the refrigerator since the producer uses a series of precautions (specific dark bottles to protect it from light, use of the cap pond and no heat treatment) to ensure stability nutrition.
The flavor of this type of oil is actually very particular and in addition in the product branded Il Nutrimento they use the Italian seed which has a bitter note, sometimes more marked and immediately perceptible.
Also note that the product distributed by Probios does not undergo any process of deodorization which at the level of taste would surely make it more neutral and perhaps more pleasant but would penalize the nutritional value, which does not happen for other seed oils more resistant to this type of treatments.
